Yamaha unleashes the new P122,900 Mio Aerox S
Broadcasted live on social media, the launch of Yamaha’s latest addition to the Mio family was hosted by Pinoy VJ Robi Domingo, who is a proud Aerox rider. The World Hip Hop Dance Champions, Upeepz, helped break some of the tension and ease the suspense at this huge event. Ryan Jude Camus, YMPH senior marketing manager,showed us around the new Aerox and reassured everyone that the Stop/Start system would not affect the bike’s battery life because it’s protected with a fail-proof technology. Like how many ‘hype’ sneakers are released, a limited number of the Aerox S, 155 units to be exact, has been made available through a webpage where customers may make reservations.
Review: 2018 Yamaha Mio Aerox S
Now that the hype has died down a bit, Yamaha’s allowed us a couple weeks’ worth of saddle time with their range-topping Mio. I’m not a huge scooter guy myself, with sports bikes taking up most of the space on my laptop’s wallpaper folder. From the sharp lines to the wide-profile tires, it looked every bit the part of the ‘sporty scooter’ as Yamaha is saying in its sales pitch. The LED headlight is mean and intimidating, and the bodywork has enough angles that it wouldn’t look out of place in a geometry textbook.
One issue of the Aerox that has people talking is its frame, which offers tight space for the rider’s feet, so getting on and off is a bit more of a challenge. I tested this out myself, and I ended up swinging a leg over it as I would with a ‘regular’ motorcycle, in fear of hitting something with my foot by passing through the cramped middle area, which might cause the bike to fall.
Those I’ve taken on the back of the Aerox S remark how comfortable it is and how the passenger foot pegs don’t make legs spread too wide. Even with sporty traits, the Aerox S’ engine stays economical, thanks to Yamaha’s Blue Core technology.
The suspension isn’t anything fancy, with no brands being thrown around on the spec sheet, but it was enough to have a blast in the corners of Marilaque, especially with the wide, sporty tires.
Braking is adequate, and the ABS came in handy in providing riding confidence amidst torrential rains on the mountains of Quezon. There’s also a dial assembly that lets you turn the scooter ‘on’ and ‘off,’ open the fuel door and seat storage, as well as lock the steering. Storage is bountiful on the Aerox S, with an under-seat compartment that can accommodate my school stuff plus takeout food, or even a full-face helmet.
The Aerox S also features a neat storage cubby/glove compartment up front which can store small items, like the key, my phone, and wallet. The most stress I’ve felt while on the Aerox S was when I was frantically looking for a roadside fuel vendor along Marilaque as the low-fuel light flashed as if to nag me about my poor decisions.
Perbedaan Aerox ABS dan Non ABS, Apa Saja Itu?
Di samping itu juga dapat diketahui dari bagian logo atau yang biasa dikenal dengan emblem. Akan tetapi, untuk versi Yamaha Aerox ABS ini telah memberikan bagian suspensi belakang dengan ditambahkan sub tank.
Ketika memilih Yamaha Aerox Connected ABS, nantinya Blibli Friends akan menikmati satu bagian yang menyenangkan.
Apabila ditinjau dari segi fitur, perbedaan kedua tipe ini terletak pada bagian keyless smart key system. Pada kendaraan roda dua pun juga telah ikut turut serta mengantongi produk-produk atau teknologi canggih tersebut. Oleh sebab itu, ketika menyalakan mesin motor tipe ini, Blibli Friends cukup dengan memutar bagian knop yang tersemat pada area bawah stang. Kali ini Blibli Friends juga dapat mengetahui apa saja perbedaannya dengan ditinjau berdasarkan spesifikasi yang lainnya. Meskipun kedua motor ini sama-sama telah menggunakan tipe aki kering dengan arus listrik sebesar 12 volt.
Pada dasarnya juga terdapat fitur lain yang menjadi salah satu keuntungan dari tipe motor Yamaha Aerox ini. Keberadaan fitur ini akan sangat memungkinkan untuk mesin dapat mati sendiri ketika throttle tidak dibuka hingga 5 detik. Namun nantinya akan secara otomatis menyala ketika Blibli Friends memutar kembali tuas gas motor tersebut. Ketika ditinjau berdasarkan kemampuan dapur pacunya, motor ini telah mengusung mesin dengan tipe blue core dan juga VVA.
Untuk kapasitas yang dikenakannya yakni sebesar 155 cc bertipe silinder tunggal, SOHC serta liquid cooled 4 stroke. Dengan menggunakan tipe mesin ini, nantinya akan sangat memungkinkan untuk motor mampu menghasilkan tenaga sebesar 11.3 kw.
Di sisi lain motor Yamaha Aerox ini juga telah mengantingo sistem bahan bakar fuel injection. Tentunya, info di atas dapat membantu Blibli Friends ketika tengah mempertimbangkan lebih cocok dengan produk yang mana.
