Aerox 2018 Vs 2019

The Yamaha Aerox 155 is India’s most affordable performance-oriented scooter with a liquid-cooled engine. The Aerox 155 is packed with features like LED illumination with hazard light function, a digital LCD instrument cluster, smartphone connectivity via Yamaha’s Y-connect app, single-channel ABS and segment-first traction control as standard. As the suffix suggests, the Yamaha Aerox 155 is powered by a 155cc engine, borrowed from… you guessed it, the R15 V4! The Aerox 155 rolls on 14-inch tyres sprung on a telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers. The Aerox primarily rivals the Aprilia SXR 160, which fails to match the Yamaha’s features or power figures.

Review: 2018 Yamaha Mio Aerox S

Now that the hype has died down a bit, Yamaha’s allowed us a couple weeks’ worth of saddle time with their range-topping Mio. I’m not a huge scooter guy myself, with sports bikes taking up most of the space on my laptop’s wallpaper folder. From the sharp lines to the wide-profile tires, it looked every bit the part of the ‘sporty scooter’ as Yamaha is saying in its sales pitch. The LED headlight is mean and intimidating, and the bodywork has enough angles that it wouldn’t look out of place in a geometry textbook.

One issue of the Aerox that has people talking is its frame, which offers tight space for the rider’s feet, so getting on and off is a bit more of a challenge. I tested this out myself, and I ended up swinging a leg over it as I would with a ‘regular’ motorcycle, in fear of hitting something with my foot by passing through the cramped middle area, which might cause the bike to fall.

Those I’ve taken on the back of the Aerox S remark how comfortable it is and how the passenger foot pegs don’t make legs spread too wide. Even with sporty traits, the Aerox S’ engine stays economical, thanks to Yamaha’s Blue Core technology. The suspension isn’t anything fancy, with no brands being thrown around on the spec sheet, but it was enough to have a blast in the corners of Marilaque, especially with the wide, sporty tires. Braking is adequate, and the ABS came in handy in providing riding confidence amidst torrential rains on the mountains of Quezon. There’s also a dial assembly that lets you turn the scooter ‘on’ and ‘off,’ open the fuel door and seat storage, as well as lock the steering. Storage is bountiful on the Aerox S, with an under-seat compartment that can accommodate my school stuff plus takeout food, or even a full-face helmet.

The Aerox S also features a neat storage cubby/glove compartment up front which can store small items, like the key, my phone, and wallet. The most stress I’ve felt while on the Aerox S was when I was frantically looking for a roadside fuel vendor along Marilaque as the low-fuel light flashed as if to nag me about my poor decisions.

5 Perbedaan Yamaha Aerox 155 Baru Vs Lama – Moladin

Yamaha Aerox 155 first ride review

Now Yamaha caught us all by surprise in September earlier this year its new offering – the Aerox 155 – when it threw its contender into the ring. This one in particular comes with orange 14-inch alloy wheels which includes a 110/80 front and chunky 140/80 section rear tyre and this adds to the imposing stance of the scooter. And it has a heavily contoured knee recess area, foot space is at a premium because the fuel tank is in between your feet.

Moving back towards the seat area, this stepped seat is massive and the x-shaped panel on the spine give this Aerox a very unique sense of appeal and also adds a nice solid flow back to the scooter’s tail section. Things out back are quite basic with a simple designed LED taillamp unit, but there’s a lot going on here as well but it all appears to be done nicely and tidily. While the turn indicators up front are nicely infused with the apron, the rear makes do with motorcycle- style LED blinkers.

The Aerox may not be the most practical scooter around with the centre spine eating away at footspace, but in terms of features, the scooter comes with a good amount of the premium stuff like the Bluetooth-enabled instrument cluster, which gives you a good amount of information like speed trip, average economy, battery voltage and a lot more. Then there’s bits like the multifunction key, a glovebox with 12 volt charging socket, an automatic start/stop system that works brilliantly, a side-stand engine cut-off function, the obvious external fuel-fuller lid, single-channel ABS by virtue of its displacement, heck, there’s even a generous under-seat storage space of 24.5litres which can easily swallow up a large size full-face helmet, which is brilliant.

If you asked me to bring out my magnifying glass and try to find fault with this scooter, well, I’d say that it doesn’t come with turn-by-turn navigation or a brake lock. Not real deal breakers if you ask me considering the amount of fun you’ll have riding this scooter, it overshadows any or all of the points I’ve just mentioned. The Aerox’s motor also features Variable Valve Actuation tech that generously distributes torque all across the powerband. If you’re travelling at 40, 60 or even 80kmph for that matter, it just takes a little flick of the wrist for this scooter to blow everything else on the road into the weeds.

Even those boy racers who pull up to you at the signal, let’s just say they’ll be picking your dust out of their teeth every time the lights go green. Just when you think that it’s going to begin to wheeze and run out of steam, the Yamaha pulls out performance from its 155cc bag of tricks and takes you by surprise. Once I actually did try to ride conservatively, the scooter returned an impressive 48kmpl in a combined city and highway cycle. As you would expect from any two-wheeler that’s built for speed and performance, comfort takes a step back.

The normal every-day rider will find the ride quality to be very harsh but if you’re of the enthusiastic sorts you’d like to rephrase the term to it being communicative. It’s got some phone connectivity options, an external fuel filler cap, a generous boot space, decent seating accommodation, and more.
