It shares the same engine as its supersport sibling, the Yamaha R15, after all and if you are among many enthusiasts who have eyed the maxi-scooter, here’s how long you will have to wait to take delivery of it across India’s major cities in May 2022. However, that said, the exact duration of the wait depends on the colour variant you choose and the inventory level of the dealership you purchase from.
8 initial impressions after taking delivery of my Yamaha Aerox 155
Went to Hebbal showroom in Bangalore on 10-March-23 to simply inquire about the Aerox and there was a ready one in Racing Blue colour in stock. There was a customer unit in the service centre in the grey shade and sat and felt the engine note.
Went ahead with the booking of the Racing Blue colour with a delivery date of two business days.
I feel like luck was along my side as the waiting period is around 1-2 months as confirmed by the SA.
This might be a personal thought however I am used to holding the rear grab rail of a two-wheeler while pushing the bike/ reversing out of a parking lot. In the Aerox, the absence of the grab rail caught me off-guard while taking it out of the opposite direction. The rear suspension is quite hard and you need to be prepared while running over a bad stretch of road.
Yamaha working to introduce Aerox in all showrooms soon
It brings Yamaha’s venerable R15 engine and a sporty, fun character to the table in a design never before seen in India. That in turn has led to long waiting periods – an issue compounded by the limited availability, as the Aerox 155 is only sold through a handful of Yamaha Blue Square dealers across India. The company says that, like the rest of the automobile industry, it too has been severely affected by the global semiconductor shortage and disruptions in supply chains. This bit of news should come as music to the ears of those living in cities like Mumbai which don’t have a single Blue Square showroom yet.
What is the waiting period for Yamaha Aerox 155 ?
Fused with modernity, sleek structure and built-in strength, the Yamaha Aerox 155 comes with the most powerful engine known so far.
Ownership Review | 2022 Yamaha Aerox 155 | Racing Blue
But in case you need to warn other road users – the horn, although a single unit and one of the rare ‘Made in India’ parts one could spot on the scooter, is decent enough. The sporty fairing curves in and almost brushes with my knees, causing issues even when slightly sliding forwards, especially when riding to the gym in the morning. Tight braking situations can cause the knee to brush against the mobile storage compartment knocking it open! The seat is decently flat and wide, and though visible grab rails are missing, the shape of the under-seat cowl provides a comfortable grip for the pillion.
The addition of small light and the provision of a charging point here (instead of the front compartment) could have made it even better. Even then, I believe the official figure is calculated towards the front of the seat, whereas the taller riders among us have to sit as further back as the two-stepped design allows.
It sure feels tall and I do like it because I can see ahead of hatchbacks, sedans and even some crossovers, and this reduces some tension while riding in traffic. However, the space isn’t too bad and I have room to move my feet a bit, even wearing large Woodland shoes.

But in case you need to warn other road users – the horn, although a single unit and one of the rare ‘Made in India’ parts one could spot on the scooter, is decent enough. The seat is two-stepped and slopes towards the front, but the ride height (I believe measured at the lowest point) is on the higher side at 790 mm, 2.5 cm higher than many entry-level scooters in the market.
Once seated, the stance is comfortable – and I could ride 6.5 hours without getting body pains. That said, the story isn’t all positive and there is one serious shortcoming, especially for the taller riders among us – and that is legroom. The sporty fairing curves in and almost brushes with my knees, causing issues even when slightly sliding forwards, especially when riding to the gym in the morning.

Has not affected her confidence level though, thanks to the excellent weight distribution of the scooter. The low handlebar combined with the taller seat height – results in you sitting with the arms down, rather than in a 90-degree position.

Yamaha Aerox 155 Price, Images, colours, Mileage & Reviews
Yamaha Aerox 155 comes in a standard variant with four colour options all priced at Rs 1,42,800, ex-showroom Delhi. Yamaha Aerox 155 is powered by a single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 155cc engine which is borrowed from the popular R15 and MT-15 with an automatic transmission. The scooter is built on an underbone chassis which is suspended on a telescopic front fork and dual shocks at the rear.
YAMAHA AEROX 155
Yamaha caught us all by surprise earlier this year, when it took on this issue, with the Aerox 155. A Yamaha scooter powered by the R15 engine… sounds like fun, doesn’t it? With any premium two wheeler, looks play an important factor and that’s something the Aerox 155 definitely has going for it.
This one in particular comes with orange 14-inch alloy wheels which include a 110/80 front and chunky 140/80 section rear tyre and this adds to the imposing stance of the scooter.
