Yamaha Aerox 2022 Review

You become the Ntorq rider’s envy and a middle-aged man’s hero when you roll in on this Yamaha. But, if you have been used to traditional scooters, even the quicker ones like the Ntorq, riding the Aerox feels sensational. And even after six months of riding it, it still feels quick and exciting every time I open the throttle with intent.

A fuel efficiency figure of around 40kmpl isn’t great when one considers traditional scooters.

Or just your office bag with the laptop, coffee tumbler, and an elaborate lunch box.

2022 Yamaha Aerox 155 road test review: A bike disguised as scooter

A recent shift has also been recorded in the entry-level segment that indicates that more buyers now plan to invest in scooters than bikes, of course, thanks to the varied options available. While Yamaha still has a relatively tiny share in the Indian scooter market, its other Japanese counterpart has really cracked the code with its offerings. But Yamaha has shown in the past that its scooters (Fascino 125 and the RayZR 125) even though holding a small customer base, have proved to be very compelling propositions.

Another unconventional bit that can be highlighted is the addition of the radiator panel on the right side of the scooter, which in my opinion, looks cool.

While there is adequate space to keep your regular paraphernalia, it simply can not accommodate a full-size rider helmet which is a big downer. While the Aerox does get a fully digital anti-glare multifunction negative LCD that comes brimming with an array of information, seeing the kind of premium Yamaha is charging for this scooter. The screen displays all the required info in a very legible and no-nonsense format, and the data remains visible even in bright daylight conditions. The 0-60 kmph is achieved lighting fast, and also attaining triple-digit speeds feels stupendously easy on the Aerox.

Even with a front as wide as 110 mm, its nose feels light and agile, and that’s majorly because of the choice of the right rim size. The fat tyres not only give the scooter a very intimidating look but also keep it planted no matter how aggressively you ride it around the corners. Built on the maxi-scooter format, the Yamaha Aerox 155 immediately stands out from the regular-fare of flat floorboard scooters in India, thanks to the X-design motif, which covers the fuel tank and engine bay. With 15ps at disposal, the Aerox 155 is zippy, fun to tackle gaps in traffic and shrink the distances between stop lights. Never before has a scooter felt so “in-element” outside the city, the Aerox is comfortable out on the highway, holding speeds of 90 to 100 kmph feels natural and not-strained. Where it truly-shines is on a winding road, the Aerox 155 feels almost like-a-motorcycle through the corners, holding a line brilliantly. Unlike most petrol scooters in India that use a monoshock, the Aerox gets twin shock absorbers at the rear that are set up on the firmer side. However the front fork sports a conventional telescopic shock absorber that isn’t as stiff as the rear.

Inspite of such performance on tap, the Aerox’s stellar fuel efficiency in the city is courtesy its excellent Automatic stop-start system. Hence we don’t get features such as on-screen navigation instructions and music control, but you do get call notifications and SMS alerts. Last Parking Location: At the outset this seems like a useful feature, but this only has details of the last time the scooter was connected to the phone over BT and cannot be used to trace a borrowed or stolen vehicle.

Motor ini sudah didukung dengan aplikasi Y-Connect, sehingga dapat menampilkan notifikasi telepon masuk, e-mail, dan pesan singkat dari smartphone, pada layar panel meternya. Keunggulan fitur ini bukan hanya praktis, tapi juga membuat motor jadi semakin sulit dicuri maling.

Electric Power Socket ini posisinya diletakkan pada laci atau rak depan sebelah kiri. Raknya juga sudah memiliki penutup agar smartphone yang sedang dicas tidak terjatuh saat diletakkan di dalam rak tersebut. Pengendara bisa menyimpan banyak barang berukuran cukup besar, seperti helm, jas hujan, sepatu, dan lainnya. Sebab, ban tipe ini tidak mudah kempis ketika tertusuk benda tajam. Jadi, pengendara masih bisa mengendarai motor hingga lokasi tukang tambal ban terdekat. Tapi, dengan sederetan kelebihan yang ada pada Yamaha Aerox 155 Connected 2022, tentunya motor ini juga memiliki sejumlah kekurangan.

Matic Maxi Yamaha ini hanya dibekali rem cakram untuk bagian depannya saja. Alasannya adalah untuk menjaga bobot Yamaha Aerox 155 Connected tidak berlebih dan power to weight ratio tetap yang terbaik di kelasnya.
